Media Center

Good Day Concord is the school news show that airs in classrooms several times each year. The program is run by the Media staff and students in grade 5. Students interested in joining the Good Day Concord news team should talk with their classroom teachers. Watch episodes of Good Day Concord HERE.

In collaboration with the nationwide endeavor Hour of Code, Concord works to provide students with opportunities to explore computer programming and develop an enthusiasm for coding, through a variety of GAMES AND ACTIVITIES. 

Each year, a large number of 4th and 5th graders read to help determine the winner of The Maud Hart Lovelace Book Award, an award given to a favorite author by Minnesota students. Maud Hart Lovelace was a Minnesota author best known for her Betsy-Tacy and Tib books first published in the 1940s. Nominated titles are works of fiction recognized for their quality by a committee of teachers and librarians. The purpose of the award is to encourage recreational reading among children.

Students in grades 4 and 5 read at least four of the nominated books and vote for their favorite in late March. At Concord, students earn a 'Maud Squad' Badge with their picture on it when they have read the required four books to vote. A special orange badge is awarded to students who read all ten of the nominees. The badges are displayed throughout the year in the Media Center.

This is an optional event for all Concord students to have fun with science, technology, engineering, art, and math.  Students have an opportunity to display and present a STEAM project that they create at home.  Visit the STEAM Fair website to learn more.
